Porches. They are an extension of your home. A semi-sheltered place to move to when the weather is agreeable (or not as agreeable as you'd like). Porches are for summer-time fun.
This is my front porch. A place to say "welcome to my home." I enjoy sitting here (when I actually have time to sit!) and watch the kids play, sip iced tea, and crochet or read. Right now, it's sheltering my freshly painted garden benches.
My back porch is really an extension of my living space.
It is a place where we like to eat meals and snacks.
Sit and read.
Enjoy morning tea.
Swing.
A place for baby feet in the afternoon sunlight.
A place to put fun decorations,
grow bay leaves,
and enjoy the flowers.
A place to dehydrate summer goodness. Yes, our dehydrator has a permanent place on our back porch...
Have a sparkly day! And be sure to check out The Inadvertent Farmer's Summer's Simple Things series for more summer time fun!

This is a cute post about your porches. They are wonderful, aren't they? We love our porch and think about building more for shade on the south side, even a sleeping porch on the west side. Ah, porches... I love them.
Oh your porches are wonderful! That back porch is to die for...it almost looks like its in the tree tops. What fun to have a swing off a porch, very creative!
Yes I will agree that porches are one of summer's very best simple things! Great post...Kim
Ann, a sleeping porch would be so sooo wonderful!
Kim, thanks! The swing is my small version of The Swing in Charlotte's Web. Ya know, Mr. Zuckerman's famous swing... but a little safer I like to think. :o)
so true!Porches are amazing and I love my porch too. You have made a nice post about simple summertime things with porches and i really can relate to that.
I like that you say that porches are an extention of our living space. I think that they infact reflect what our living space might look like inside too.
CUTE POST!

Thanks, Amanda! I agree. They do reflect the interior of your home, just as they reflect your interior.
Thanks for stopping by. :o)
